Chhari-Mubarak pilgrimage concludes successfully
Srinagar, Aug 21: Union Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday said that the pilgrimage to holy shrine of Amarnath was successfully completed and a record number of more than 5.12 lakh pilgrims visited it.
In a post on “X”, Amit shah wrote, “the holy pilgrimage of Shri Amarnathji was successfully completed. This year, the holy pilgrimage lasted for 52 days, a record number of more than 5.12 lakh pilgrims visited Baba, which is the highest number in the last 12 years,”
“All of you have made a unique contribution in making the pilgrimage of the pilgrims safe and smooth. May Baba keep his blessings on everyone. Jai Baba Barfani!”, Shah said further in a post on “X” while Congratulating all security personnel, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, Jammu and Kashmir administration and voluntary organisations for making the pilgrimage a success.
The pilgrimage to the Amarnath shrine, located at a height of 3,880 metres in the south Kashmir Himalayas, started on June 29 and ended on August 19
Meanwhile, annual Chhari-Mubarak pilgrimage, symbolized by the Silver mace of Lord Shiva, concluded on Wednesday with the final rituals of ‘Pujan’ and ‘Visarjan’ being solemnly observed at Pahalgam in Anantnag district, South Kashmir.
A contingent of Sadhus, spearheaded by Mahant Deependra Giri, the custodian of the Chhari Mubarak, alongside security forces, a few tourists from across the country, and local residents, convened on the banks of the Lidder River to perform the sacred rites.
Traditional ‘Karri-Pakouri’ Bhandara was organized, where ‘Dakshina’ was distributed to all attendees.
Speaking to reporters after the ceremony, Mahant Giri expressed his gratitude towards the Indian Army, BSF, CRPF, ITBP, J&K Police, Health Department, PHE, PDD, and all other agencies involved in orchestrating the pilgrimage, acknowledging their concerted efforts in ensuring the Yatra’s success.
He also extended his appreciation to the people of Jammu & Kashmir for their indispensable support.
Mahant Giri also commended the voluntary organizations for their commendable contributions, including the provision of langar, medical services, and other essential amenities to the pilgrims throughout the Yatra.
