495 kanals of government land retrieved in G’bal

Ganderbal, Feb 01: Authorities in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Wednesday launched a massive anti-encroachment drive to evict government land from the land grabbers during which 495 kanals of state land and Kahcharai were retrieved.
An official told Rising Kashmir that special anti-encroachment squads constituted by District Administration Ganderbal and headed by Tehsildars conducted mass scale anti encroachment drives while taking assistance of Police and other concerned departments.
During the drive, 298 kanals of government land was retrieved at block Ganderbal, 53 Kanals at Tullamula, 65 kanals of Kahcharai land in Tehsil Lar while 50 Kanals of state land and Kahcharai were retrieved in Sumbal Bala Gund area of the district.
Similarly, Anti-encroachment squads in Sub-division Kangan retrieved 74 Kanals of government land which include 24 kanals of state land in block Kangan and 50 kanals in block Gund.
The District Administration has so far retrieved over 17,627 kanals of government land which include 11672 kanals of state land and 5955 kanals of Kahcharai land during anti-encroachment drives in the district.
The district administration has sought cooperation of the general public in retrieving the government land from land grabbers.
