New Delhi, Apr 17: The 48th edition of the India Carpet Expo, which began on April 14, concluded on April 17 (Thursday), leaving participants with a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. The event was inaugurated by Giriraj Singh, the Minister of Textiles, Government of India, alongside Amrit Raj, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts).
The expo attracted notable dignitaries, including K.P. Malik, Minister of State for Forest and Environment from Uttar Pradesh, who visited to show support for the event. On the fourth day, Santosh Sarangi, Director General of Foreign Trade, also attended, indicating the expo’s significance within the broader textile industry.
Chairman of the Carpet Export Promotion Council (CEPC), Kuldeep Raj Wattal, said the expo witnessed an enthusiastic turnout, with 220 buyers from 45 countries alongside 130 buying representatives. “The feedback from buyers was overwhelmingly positive; they appreciated the international standard of arrangements,” Wattal said, adding that the participants enjoyed exploring new designs and innovations, meeting their expectations for quality and creativity.
The expo featured products from 159 esteemed small, medium, and large manufacturers, emphasising the rich cultural heritage and weaving skills of Indian hand-knotted carpet artisans. Buyers were particularly impressed with the variety available under one roof, reinforcing the event’s role as a vital platform for industry networking.
To further support exporters, Wattal requested an extension of the Interest Equalisation Scheme from the government. International interest was also evident, with representatives like Mr Thilo Horstmann from Deutsche Messe AG engaging in discussions about the CEPC’s participation in the upcoming Domotex International Trade Show in 2026.
The CEPC leadership expressed gratitude to government officials, member firms, and buyers for their unwavering support. The team behind the expo was recognised for their tireless efforts to ensure its success.
Wattal assured attendees that future editions would continue to improve based on member feedback, solidifying the expo’s position as a premier event in the global carpet industry.
