JAMMU, July 05:
In a devastating incident that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, four persons were killed while eight others sustained injuries after the vehicle they were traveling in skidded off the road and plummeted into a deep gorge in Thannamandi area of Rajouri District, Jammu region.
The victims, who were relatives, had embarked on their journey in an ECO vehicle from Poonch, where they had attended a funeral, with their destination set for Bhangai village. The unfortunate accident occurred at around 2:30 am when the driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in its descent into the treacherous gorge, as reported by the local authorities.
Out of the total twelve persons present in the ill-fated vehicle, four lost their lives, while the remaining eight sustained injuries. The prompt response from the Police, aided by local residents, facilitated the swift evacuation of the victims to GMC Rajouri. However, four persons were declared brought dead, informed SHO Hilal Azhar, speaking to Rising Kashmir.
An injured ex-serviceman was immediately transferred to the Army Hospital Rajouri for specialized care, while the seven other injured victims continue to receive medical treatment at GMC Rajouri, added the SHO.
