Baramulla, Sept 14: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday booked four most wanted and notorious drug smugglers under PIT-NDPS Act in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
They were subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu.
A police official said that these drug smugglers were booked under the PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent Authority.
“Acting tough against drug peddlers and to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Baramulla Police booked four most wanted and notorious drug smugglers in various parts of the district,” the police official said.
Police identified the drug smugglers as Sajad Ahmad Khan son of Mohd Afzal resident of Mohura, Manzoor Ahmad Yatoo alais Munna son of Mohd Sultan resident of Heewan Sheeri, Bilal Ahmad Rather son of Ghulam Mohiuddin resident of Bandipayeen Chandoosa and Mohd Aqib Dar alais Babar son of Mohd Yousuf resident of Khambiyar Pattan.
The police official said that the booked drug smugglers have been detained and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot-Bhalwal Jail Jammu.
Baramulla police said that many cases are registered against these drug smugglers.
“They were involved in promoting drug abuse by supplying drugs to local youth of Mohura, Heewan, Bandipayeen, Chandoosa, Khambiyar Pattan and other areas of District Baramulla,” the police official added.
“Despite their involvement in many FIR’s, they did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse by supplying drugs to local youth.”
General public of Baramulla appreciated the role of Police for their action against drug peddlers.
Baramulla Police said that the consistent actions by police against the drug peddlers should reassure the community members that Baramulla police is making all efforts to keep our society free from drug abuse.
