4 die, 8 injured after Tempo falls into deep gorge at Reasi

Jammu, Mar 11: Four people died, while eight others were injured on Tuesday after a Tempo Travel skidded off the road and rolled down into a deep gorge in Reasi District of Jammu region.

 The accident took place near Gangode area in the district when the driver lost control over the tempo traveler after which the ill fated vehicle fell into the deep gorge.

 “Three persons died on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries while being shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu (GMC&H-J),” SSP Reasi, Parmavir Singh, Informed Rising Kashmir.

 “Five injured were shifted to GMC-Jammu and all are stable and are responding to the treatment,” a senior doctor at GMC-Jammu, Dr Bharat Bhushan said.

 The injured shifted to GMC-Jammu have been identified as Saleema Begum (24 years), w/o Mohd Aslam, R/o Mahore, Zareena (2 years), D/o Mohd Aslam, R/o Mahore, Abdul Rashid (50 years), s/o Shawali, R/o Mahore, Priya Devi (20 years), D/O Bhim Singh, R/o Bhaganpur Chasana and Sandoor Singh (25 years), s/o Chauhan Singh, R/o Baganpur Chasana.

 Sources said that 13 people were travelling in the ill fated Tempo Travel having capacity of 18 people.  The accident took place near Gangode area when the driver reportedly lost control over the tempo traveller, causing it to roll into the deep gorge.

 Immediately after the accident, the police and SDRF personnel rushed to the spot to carry out rescue operations.

 Three persons died on the spot, and one died on the way to the hospital, officials added. Eight injured persons were shifted to the hospital.

 The vehicle was on its way from Jammu to Mahore when it rolled into a deep gorge. In the mishap, three persons died on the spot, and one died on the way to the hospital.
