Pulwama: Around 375 kanals of state land were evicted from encroachers in different areas of Pampore tehsil of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.
The eviction drive was carried out at Bagandar and Namlabal areas of Saffron town Pampore.
During the drive illegal structures constructed on state land were demolished.
Tehsildar Pampore, Zubair Ahmad Bhat, said that 200 Kanals of state land were evicted at Bagandar and 150 Kanals at Namblabal.
He also added that an orchard on 15 Kanals of Kahchari was handed over to horticulture department.
“ A total of around 375 Kanals of state and Kahchari land were evicted in the drive,” he said, adding that the eviction drive will be taken to its conclusion.
He said that there are clear instructions from government that any kind of commercial establishment on state or Kahchari land be dismantled.
“ There will be zero tolerance against any kind of encroachment of state land,” he said, adding that so far they have no instructions against eviction of residential houses on state land.
“ Once instructions in this regard are received they will be implemented,” he said.
