36th Doda District Volleyball Championship kicks off in Bhaderwah

Doda, Nov 19: The 36th Doda District Volleyball Championship was inaugurated on Tuesday at Government Degree College Bhaderwah by Additional SP Bhaderwah, Vinod Sharma.
Organized by the Volleyball Association of J&K (VAJK) in collaboration with GDC Bhaderwah and under the aegis of the J&K Sports Council, the two-day event features 13 teams from remote areas of Doda district, including Sinoo, Dadkaie, Changa, Thathri, and Chinta, competing for the championship title.
In his inaugural address, the Chief Guest commended the organizers for hosting such events, emphasizing their role in channeling youth energy positively and combating social evils like drug addiction. He urged participants to aim for higher-level tournaments, including the JKUT and national championships. Sharma also extended his gratitude to VAJK office bearers, including CEO Kuldip Magotra, General Secretary Vijay Magotra, and Treasurer Romesh Sharma, for selecting Bhaderwah as the venue for the prestigious tournament.
Ravi Thakur, retired SDM, attended as the Guest of Honor, alongside dignitaries like SHO Bhaderwah Sandeep Parihar and Angrej Singh, Physical Director of GDC Bhaderwah. The dignitaries were honored with mementos by VAJK.
A large audience of volleyball enthusiasts and sport lovers witnessed the matches with great enthusiasm. Technical officials, including Mudasir Butt, Aftab Ahmed, Salma Rubi, Rajni Kotwal, Gulshan Ahmed, Amir Iqbal, and Mohd Arif (Rana), ensured the smooth conduct of the tournament.
Day 1 Results: GDC Bhaderwah defeated Islamia Club: 2-0 (25-21, 25-10), Rewara Club beat GDC Bhaderwah-B: 2-0 (25-16, 26-16), Seri Volleyball Club triumphed over Chinta Volleyball Club: 2-0 (25-22, 25-11), Friends Volleyball Club edged past Bhaderkashi Tiger Volleyball Club: 2-0 (25-20, 26-24), Sofi Volleyball Club Dadkaie defeated Shining Volleyball Club Bharti: 2-0 (25-11, 25-22), Young Star Bhatyas Volleyball Club overcame Rewara Volleyball Club: 2-0 (25-15, 25-16), Tiger Sinoo Volleyball Club beat GDC Bhaderwah-A: 2-0 (25-23, 26-24), Thathri Volleyball Club defeated Friends Volleyball Club Bhalessa: 2-0 (25-13, 25-10).
The championship will continue on Wednesday with one quarterfinal match, two semifinals, and the grand final.
