Jammu, Mar 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Thursday said there are currently 367 vacant lecturer positions across various disciplines in Higher Secondary Schools within the Doda district.

In response to a question posed by MLA Mehraj Malik during the Assembly session, the minister confirmed the existence of these vacancies in District Doda’s Higher Secondary Schools.

“To address the staffing shortage in Higher Secondary Schools for the academic year 2024-25, 140 Cluster Resource Coordinators (CRCs) have been temporarily appointed in Doda District to teach specific subjects. Additionally, a rationalization process has been initiated to identify schools with insufficient staff and to allocate surplus personnel to those in need,” the minister said.

Furthermore, in November 2024 and January 2025, a total of 594 lecturer positions across 27 disciplines will be referred to the J&K Public Service Commission for selection, which is expected to significantly alleviate the shortage of +2 lecturers.

The minister reiterated that to mitigate the staff shortage in Higher Secondary Schools for the academic session 2024-25, 140 Cluster Resource Coordinators (CRCs) have been temporarily engaged in Doda District to instruct specific subjects, with their contracts lasting until March 31, 2025. These temporary appointments are made annually by the respective Directors and are funded through Samagra Shiksha grants. Following the conclusion of their term, a new hiring process will be initiated in consultation with Samagra Shiksha, contingent upon the availability of grants from the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
