Srinagar, Nov 16: In a significant move, the Directorate of Ayush, J&K has confirmed 36 Medical Officers Ayurveda as District Ayush Officers after a hiatus of twenty three years.
As per the Govt. Order No 924-JK (HME) of 2023 Dated 16-11-2023, after recommendation of Departmental Promotion Committee/ J&K Public Service Commission, these Ayush Medical officers have been confirmed as District Ayush Officers
These 36 Medical officers, Ayurveda had served the department as In-Charge District Ayush officers (then Assistant District Medical Officers) from the year 2000 to 2020 after they were designated the posts as per their seniority.
Pertinently, in 2022 twenty Medical Officers Unani were confirmed as District Ayush Officers (then Assistant District Medical Officers) by the DPC/PSC vide Govt. Order No 910-JK (HME) of 2022 dated 16-12-2022 and within a span of one year 36 Medical Officers Ayurveda have been confirmed as District Ayush officers.
Dr Mohan Singh, Director Ayush, J&K thanked Bhupinder Kumar, Secretary Health & Medical Education Department for this achievement. He informed that it was due to the personal efforts of Bhupinder Kumar that these 36 Medical Officers Ayurveda were confirmed as District Ayush Officers.
He said that this has paved the way for other Medical Officers, Ayurveda who are presently working as In-Charge District Ayush Officers (as per the seniority) for confirmation by DPC/PSC.
He further said that under the able guidance and leadership of Secretary Health & Medical Education Department, Ayush sector has flourished in the UT of J&K and Ayush has become a household name and first line of treatment in Non-Communicable Diseases.
Pertinent to mention here that from the last three years, 456 Standalone Ayush Dispensaries have been upgraded to AYUSH Health & Wellness Centres in a phased manner by the Directorate of Ayush J&K under National Ayush Mission.
These Ayush Health & Wellness centres are providing comprehensive Primary Ayush Health Care Facilities to the people which include Diagnostics, Screening, determination of Prakriti, Therapeutic and Wellness Yoga Sessions, Bare minimum Panchkarma/ Regimenal Therapies for rehabilitation, IEC & Public Health Outreach programs, School Health programs besides promotion of Medicinal Plants sector in the area.
From April 2023 till date more than 32 lakh patients have availed various Ayush Consultation in AYUSH health and wellness centres. Footfall and demand of Ayush services has increased manifolds by new initiatives of Ayush by intersectoral convergence under Ayushman Bhava campaign.
Programs like Anemia Mukt Bharat, Non-Communicable Diseases Mukt Bharat, Promotion of Millets under Eat Right Campaign, Nasha Mukt Bharat are regularly being organized by Ayush Staff. Recently 05 Ayush Health and Wellness Centres of Jammu and Udhampur Districts were awarded NABH Accreditation in a ceremony organized by Ministry of Ayush, GoI at Panchkula, Haryana.
The budgetary provisions under National Ayush Mission, has increased from mere 12.00 Crores in 2018-19 to Rs 72.00 Crores in 2023-24. Under Medicinal Plants sector 03 nurseries of Medicinal Plants are being established at Bhaderwah, Doda (High Altitude), Gurez Bandipora (High Altitude) and Samba (Sub-tropical) J&K for generation of Quality Planting Material of Medicinal Plants for further distribution to Farmers/Growers.
The Ethical Committee was constituted in Govt Ayurvedic Hospital, for advanced research in Ayurvedic Medicine. Drug Testing Laboratory and Ayush Pharmacy are being made functional for which the Ministry of Ayush has released the funds.
