Srinagar, Feb 19: Around 3000 farmers across five districts of Kashmir will benefit under the sustainable agriculture initiative launched by ISAP India Foundation in support with HDFC Bank on Wednesday.
Officials said that the transformative programme is a part of HDFC Bank’s CSR initiative ‘Parivartan’, for which it has partnered with the ISAP India Foundation.
“The programme aims at fostering sustainable microenterprises and enhancing the livelihoods of rural agriculturalists in Kashmir,” officials said, adding that the initiative was formally inaugurated in Srinagar in the presence of key stakeholders from the agriculture sector, financial institutions, and government bodies.
“The programme focuses on poverty alleviation and sustainable livelihood development for 3,000 farmers across 50 villages in the districts of Ganderbal, Baramulla, Budgam, Kupwara, and Pulwama,” the officials said, adding that the emphasis is on climate-resilient farming and value chain development.
They added that through the initiative they desire to address critical challenges in vegetable farming through capacity building, infrastructure support, and direct market linkages.
The event commenced with an opening note and guest welcome by Dr. Umer Bin Farook, Project Coordinator Kisan First, ISAP.
