3 Member NAAC Peer Team visits GCoE Srinagar for 3rd cycle of assessment,accreditation

Srinagar, Sep 30: The Govt. College of Education (GCoE) (IASE), Srinagar was visited by a three member NAAC Peer Team for the 3rd cycle of its assessment and accreditation here on Friday.
The NAAC peer team comprised of  Chairperson, Dr. Pramod Kumar Naik, Vice Chancellor, AISECT University, Jharkhand along with Member Coordinator , Dr. Amit Kauts,  Professor and  Dean, Department of Education, Guru Nanak Dev University,  Amritsar and member Dr. Meena Kute, Former Principal, PVDT College of Education for Women, Maharashtra.
The two-day visit began with welcoming the NAAC Peer Team with Guard of Honour and gratifying salute by NCC /NSS volunteers which was followed by National Flag Hoisting ceremony and reciting of National Anthem at 9:00 am. After that College Tarana and Prayer were presented by college students in the college auditorium which was followed by a formal welcome address by IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Malik Roshan Ara.
A detailed Criterion wise presentation was delivered by the principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Seema Naz in front of NAAC Peer Team in the conference hall which was followed by a question answer session with regard to observations noted by the NAAC peer team.
The IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Malik Roshan Ara, in her presentation highlighted the quality initiatives taken by the IQAC.
Internship Coordinator, Mr. Fazlillahi made a detailed presentation of how the institution has been including a gamut of activities in its internship programmes with the vision of ensuring development of professional competencies among its interns.
The NAAC peer team was quite appreciative of the college to have been able to build state of the art infrastructure in all its departments and facilities (ICT, Sports, Laboratories, ECCE Hub, Library, Art centre and Research Hub etc.) which was observed during their visit to these facilities.
The Peer Team had a detailed interaction with the coordinator and members of the IQAC, wherein they verified and scrutinised the documents. They expressed overall satisfaction with the working of the IQAC.
The Peer team members had a detailed interaction with the members of the governing bodies comprising the Vice Chancellor, Cluster University, Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Quyyum Hussain; Director colleges, Prof.(Dr.) Yasmeen Ashai ; Dean Academic Affairs, Cluster University Srinagar  Prof.(Dr.) Mushtaq Ahmad Lone; Dr. Khursheed Ahmad Khan, Nodal Principal, Kashmir division Colleges and Registrar Cluster University Srinagar , Dr. Khursheed Ahmad Mir over the lunch  meeting.
Post the lunch session, the NAAC Peer Team members had a series of interactions with other stakeholders (The Alumni, The Student Council, The Parent Body, The Teaching and non-teaching faculty) of the college. The Peer team remarked that the best feature of the institution was the coordination and its democratic atmosphere.
The interactions were followed by a cultural programme organised by the students of the college. The students had put their best foot forward to portray the cultural harmony of all the three divisions viz., Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
On the second day of the visit, the NAAC Peer team took stock of the sports facility (Play field) at S.P. College, Srinagar with whom the college has an MOU for shared utilization of sports facilities.
Thereafter, the NAAC Peer team visited practising schools where they witnessed the best practices deployed by the interns of this institution and were appreciative of the efforts made by the institution in enriching the outlook of its students and building skills and professional acumen among them.
 The exit meeting of the visit was held in the college auditorium in which the Chairperson of the NAAC Peer team, Dr. Pramod Kumar Naik shared the report of the visit with the principal of the college. The members of NAAC Peer team shared their observations, recommendations and suggestions which would be of help to the institution for excelling and touching new heights in the coming years.
