Handwara, June 16: Three people were injured in an explosion on Monday morning during the demolition of an old mosque in Kachri village of Langate, Handwara in north Kashmir.
Locals said the blast occurred unexpectedly as residents were dismantling the old structure to pave the way for the construction of a new mosque. The injured were rushed to a nearby health facility, where doctors described their condition as stable.
The injured have been identified as Mudasir Ahmad Mir from Nutnoosa, Ghulam Ahmad Tantray from Kachri, and Owais Ahmad from Hadipora.
Following the incident, security forces arrived at the spot and cordoned off the area. A police team has launched an investigation to ascertain the cause and origin of the blast.
An official said that the nature of the explosion is yet to be determined, but confirmed that all the injured are out of danger.
