3-day development program for doctors, nurses begins at IUST

Awantipora, May 10. IUST in collaboration with Academy of Administration, India, is organizing a three-day program to deliberate on different challenges and developments facing the healthcare sector.
The inaugural session was presided over by Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, Vice-Chancellor of IUST, while Dr. Yashpal Sharma, National President Academy of Hospital Administration India, Director (Coord.), New GMC’s Paramedical & Nursing Colleges, J&K, and Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Director Health Services Kashmir, were the Guests of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Shakil Ahmad Romshoo congratulated the organizers of the program and said that the technical sessions planned cover different aspects that should help the participants to leave more informed. Mentioning the role of doctors and nurses, he said, during the Covid crisis, the services of the doctors and nurses cannot be forgotten.
He expressed that nursing as a profession entails showing care and empathy, and has a significant impact on the lives and families of patients. Prof. Romshoo further, congratulated the Principal Nursing Colleges, Ms. Asmat Parveen, for her efforts in organizing the program, and said that advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence can improve the healthcare facilities, but cannot replace the care and services provided by the nurses.
Dr. Yashpal Sharma, in his address, discussed the role of nurses and the importance of the Management Development Program in imparting skills and know-how about Nursing Administration. He talked about expectations from doctors and nurses as far as holistic patient care is concerned.
Prof. Manzoor Ahmad Malik, Dean Academics IUST, delivered the welcome address wherein he talked about the working of IUST’s Nursing colleges, and said that the Nursing course is one of the most sought-after courses with the highest placements. Dr. Fara Shafi, Block Medical Officer, Hazartabal presented the vote of thanks.
The Principal Nursing Colleges IUST, Ms. Asmat Parveen along with faculty, and students of Nursing Colleges, is coordinating the program. Pertinently, the program includes thirteen sessions on various themes of relevance with participants from the Department of Health Jammu and Kashmir, Medical colleges, and Nursing colleges.
