Baramulla, Jun 13: Police on Tuesday said that it booked three individuals suspected of engaging in anti-national activities in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A police official said that Mohd Ashraf Mir, a resident of Wussan Pattan, Mohd Yaseen Bhat from Tapper Pattan, and Wasid Ashraf Sofi hailing from Watergam Wagoora were all taken into custody and subsequently detained under the stringent Public Safety Act, as authorized by the competent authority.
“These individuals, who have a history of involvement in various cases, were not deterred from their anti-national activities despite multiple FIRs registered against them,” he said.
The police official said that in a firm stance against such elements, police took decisive action to ensure public safety and security.
“Following the issuance of formal detention orders, Mohd Ashraf Mir, son of Assadullah Mir, was confined in District Jail Udhampur under PSA,” he said.
“Likewise, Mohd Yaseen Bhat, son of Gh Mohi uddin, was lodged in Central Jail Kot-Balwal in Jammu, while Wasid Ashraf Sofi, son of Mohd Ashraf Sofi, was lodged in District Jail Kathua.”
Baramulla police said that many cases were registered against these persons and were involved in anti-national activities.
“Despite their involvement in many FIR’s they did not mend their anti national activities,” police said.
