Srinagar, July 07: The 2nd Jhelum Kayak Marathon was held from Sonwar Srinagar to Baramulla Seer through the water routes of Hajan, Ningal seer Baramulla.
In the marathon, Kayakar Reyaz Ahmad Bujal completed the distance of 77:39 kilometers, within the period time of 09:11:33 hrs. The theme of the event was “Save Sports from Corruption” and the event was sponsored by Lilly Organic Manure in collaboration with Green Kashmir Revolution.
Scholar Khursheed Ahmad Bhat Kashmir University was the guest of occasion. Bujal also expressed his gratitude to Stefan Texas for his track mapping.
He said a kayak marathon or paddling marathon is a long-distance race involving kayaks. It requires a combination of endurance, strength, technique, and strategy.
Reyaz said that safety is a crucial aspect of kayak marathons. This sport offers a fantastic opportunity to appreciate the sport of kayaking and witness the dedication and skill of the athletes involved, he added.
