Budgam, Sep 30: In order to provide better road connectivity in Budgam district, the R&B Department under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) have macadamised 216 kilometres of road length this year across the district.
An official from the R&B Department told Rising Kashmir that under the Cities and Town (C&T) and Potholes Schemes , the R & B division Budgam has received 46 road schemes, comprising 99.5 kilometres, of which 99 kilometres of roads have been completed and macadamised.
“In addition, the R & B division of Budgam has also received 5 kilometres of macadamisation under the cities and towns schemes, in which 2 kilometres of the roads have been macadamised,” an official said.
He said that the R&B division Chadoora has also macadamised 74 kilometres of roads in the division under the various schemes which include Cities and Towns (C&T), Potholes, NABARD and Languishing schemes.
“This year, the R&B Department has macadamized more than 175 kilometres of roads across the Budgam district in both Budgam and Chadoora divisions,” he added.
He claimed that most of the remote areas with the worst roads had been macadamised. However, some roads where there was a need for the filling of potholes have been filled as well.
Showkat Ahmad Shah, the Executive Engineer at PMGSY Budgam, said that 41 kilometres of roads in the Budgam district have been macadamised this year under the Cities and Towns programme fund across the district.
