2 persons killed in Zojila road accident

Ganderbal, Oct 14: Two persons were killed when a truck rolled down into a deep gorge on Srinagar Leh highway near Zojila Pass highway on Saturday.
An official said that the incident occurred when a truck, bearing the registration number 7837/JK02AH, was en route from Kargil to Srinagar. At the treacherous location of Zojila, the vehicle spiraled out of control, veering off the road and creating a deep trench near Mandir Morh, which led to the immediate loss of two lives.
Soon after receiving the information, the Police Party from P/S Sonamarg ,SDRF Gund Component, Army reached the spot and launched a massive rescue operation and after hectic efforts both the dead bodies have been recovered from the spot.
They have been identified as Raja Javid Akhtar Son of Raja Ghulam Akhtar resident of Karnah Kupwara, and Mohd Arif Son of Abdul Hussain a resident of Rajouri.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case and further investigation has been taken up in this regard.
