Baramulla, July 06:  Police arrested two individuals who allegedly harassed a young girl at Zanana Park Khawaja Bagh in Baramulla.

The accused, identified as Aqib Salam Bhat, alias Ponty, son of Abdul Salam Bhat, and Yasir Ahmad Bhat, son of Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, both residents of Fatehpora Baramulla, were taken into custody shortly after the incident took place.

A police official said that the Baramulla Police received a written complaint from an anonymous source reporting the molestation of a girl, whose identity has been withheld for her privacy.

“It was stated that the perpetrators committed the crime at Zanana Park Khawaja Bagh and swiftly fled the scene,” he said
The police official said that responding promptly, the police registered a First Information Report (FIR) under the relevant sections of the law at Police Station Baramulla, initiating a thorough investigation into the matter.

“Under the leadership of Inspector Vilayat Hussain, SHO Police Station Baramulla, and the supervision of DySP Headquarters Baramulla, Altaf Ahmad, the Baramulla Police left no stone unturned in their efforts to track down the culprits,” he said

“The accused were taken into immediate custody and further investigation started.”

The police authorities assure the public that the safety and security of women are of paramount importance and will be upheld at all costs.
