2 drug peddlers arrested in Budgam

Budgam, March 19: The Budgam police on Sunday arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession at Pakherpora Zanigam area in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
A police official from the Police Station Beerwah told the Rising Kashmir that during naka checking at Pakherpora Zanigam area, the police team from the police post Hardipanzo intercepted one Taveera vehicle bearing registration number PB01-9331 with two persons on-board.
“During search of the vehicle, poppy straw and Charas like powder weighing 1200 grams and 40 grams were recovered from their possession,” an official said.
He identified the arrested drug peddlers as Nadeem Ahmad Ganai, son of Ab Rehman Ganai, resident of Sonpah Beerwah, and Shabir Ahmad Mir, son of Gh. Rasool Mir, resident of Waragam Beerwah.
“A Case FIR number 35/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Beerwah, and investigation has been taken up,” official said.
