Kargil, Aug 09: The Ladakh Taekwondo Association has successfully concluded the final selection trials for the upcoming Cadet National Taekwondo Championship, to be held in Uttar Pradesh under the auspices of India Taekwondo. The trials took place at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Centre in Kargil, drawing participation from 40 talented athletes across the Union Territory of Ladakh. After rigorous competition, 17 players have been selected to represent Ladakh in various categories at the national level.
The trials were conducted in collaboration with the Youth Services and Sports Department of UT Ladakh and SAI, ensuring a high standard of organization and fairness. A distinguished panel of observers, including Parveen Kumar from SAI, Syed Mehraj Shah from the District Kargil Olympic Association, National Referees Zaheer Abass Khan and Mohd Ali, and Technical Head Nissar Hussain Balkhani, played a pivotal role in overseeing the selection process, ensuring its transparency and integrity.
The event was graced by the presence of Gulzar Hussain Munshi, President of the Ladakh Taekwondo Association, who served as the Chief Guest, and Ghulam Mustafa, Incharge of SAI Kargil, who was the Guest of Honour. The trials were technically supervised by Nissar Hussain Balkhani, with International Player Chosphal officiating as the Centre Referee.
In his address, Gulzar Hussain Munshi congratulated the selected athletes and highlighted the significant strides being made in the field of sports in Ladakh. He emphasized that having the trials supervised by National Coach Parveen Kumar marked a historic milestone for the region, further elevating the standards of sports in Ladakh. Munshi expressed pride in the achievements of Ladakh’s taekwondo players on both national and international platforms and shared his optimism for continued success. He also hinted at ambitious plans to host future national-level taekwondo events in Kargil.
Nissar Hussain Balkhani echoed these sentiments, offering his heartfelt congratulations to the selected team and extending his best wishes as they prepare for the forthcoming Senior Nationals.
