‘16th Annual ISRPTCON-2024 Conference’ kicks-off in Pahalgam

Anantnag, Sept 27: The 16th Annual National Conference of ISRPTCON-2024, organized by the Department of Pharmacology at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, commenced today in the picturesque town of Pahalgam, Anantnag.
The conference was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Professor (Dr.) Nilofer Khan, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kashmir, alongside the Chief Patron, Professor (Dr.) Rukhsana Najeeb, Principal of GMC Anantnag, and the Guest of Honour, Professor (Dr.) Gitanjali Batmanabane, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Medical Sciences at GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (GIMSR).
The distinguished event was further graced by the presence of Prof. (Dr.) C.D. Tripathi, President of the Indian Society for Rational Pharmacotherapeutics (ISRPT), Prof. (Dr.) Sandeep Kaushal, General Secretary of ISRPT, and key members of the organizing committee, including Dr. Sami Manzoor Magray (Organizing Chairman), Dr. Nasreen Jan (Organizing Secretary), and Dr. Tajali Nazir Shora (Joint Co-Organizing Secretary).
The ceremony began with the National Anthem, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and the release of the conference souvenir by the esteemed dignitaries. A major highlight of the day was the launch of the inaugural issue of the health bulletin, The Ascent: A Journey to Wellness, introduced by its Chief Editor, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Rukhsana Najeeb, alongside Dr. Owvass H. Dar, Media Secretary and Spokesperson, and Faizan Gul. The Ascent is designed to spotlight key contributions and initiatives from GMC Anantnag and its associated hospitals, while also serving as an informative platform to engage the public on important health issues.
In her keynote address, Prof. (Dr.) Rukhsana Najeeb emphasized the value of academic events like ISRPTCON-2024 in fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing among medical professionals. “Conferences like ISRPTCON-2024 are pivotal in keeping us at the forefront of medical science and ensuring that we continue delivering the highest standards of care to our communities,” she noted.
Dr. Sami Manzoor Magray, Head of the Department of Pharmacology and Chief Organizer of the event, expressed his gratitude for the enthusiastic participation. “Hosting this prestigious conference is an honor for GMC Anantnag. It provides a dynamic platform to explore innovations and share insights in the field of pharmacology and therapeutics,” he remarked.
The Indian Society for Rational Pharmacotherapeutics (ISRPT) holds this annual conference to bring together leading medical professionals, researchers, and academicians from across India to discuss advancements in pharmacology and therapeutic practices. This year, ISRPTCON-2024 places a special focus on promoting rational drug use and exploring new frontiers in pharmacological research. The conference serves as a vital platform for collaboration, aiming to improve healthcare outcomes through informed and responsible medication use.
Prominent guests included Prof. (Dr.) Tariq Syed Qureshi, a renowned ophthalmologist and former Principal of GMC Anantnag; Prof. (Dr.) Y.K. Gupta, President of AIIMS Jammu and AIIMS Bhopal; Prof. (Dr.) Vijay Motghare, Vice President of ISRPT and former Head of Pharmacology at GMC Nagpur; and Prof. (Dr.) H.S. Rehan, Director Professor at Lady Hardinge Medical College, Delhi. They were joined by several respected figures from the medical fraternity, including Prof. Sajad Majid Qazi, Prof. Mohd Ashraf, Prof. Mumtaz Wani, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, Dr. Mohd Yousuf, and Dr. Nazir Ahmad Wani.
Over 300 delegates from across the country and the region are attending the conference, which offers a vital opportunity to exchange updated medical knowledge and keep pace with global advancements. Ahead of the official inauguration, three pre-conference workshops were successfully conducted yesterday at the GMC Anantnag campus in Dialgam.
Dr. Tajali Shora gave vote of thanks on “On behalf of the organizing committee of ISRPTCON-2024. He extended his heartfelt thanks to all the dignitaries on the dice for for their unwavering guidance and leadership, which have been instrumental in the success of this event. He further expressed his sincere gratitude to all the distinguished speakers, guests, and participants who have contributed their invaluable insights and knowledge, making this conference a truly enriching experience.
