Jammu, March 15: The Jammu and Kashmir government Saturday stated that the average student-teacher ratio in schools across the Kalakote-Sunderbani Constituency stands at 16:1.
This information was disclosed in response to a question raised by MLA Thakur Randhir Singh during the Assembly session. The Minister in charge Education Department Sakina Itoo revealed that the student-teacher ratio in various schools within the constituency was at 16:1.
The Minister further explained that some teachers had been assigned duties outside the constituency due to security or medical reasons based on recommendations from the CID or the Standing Medical Board. The department is currently reviewing these cases and intends to reinstate teachers who have completed their deployment period. Additionally, the department is assessing land donation cases through a designated committee, which will provide recommendations for future actions in line with government guidelines. Notably, for the financial year 2024-25, an allocation of Rs 150.44 lakh has been approved for land compensation under the Union Territory Capital Expenditure Budget.
