157 assistive devices provided to 50 specially-abled persons in Ramban

Ramban, Jan 03: Social Welfare Department Ramban organized a ‘Samajik Adhikarita Shivir’ under the overall supervision of Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam for providing aids and assistive devices to Divyangjan (differently-abled) under RVY scheme.
Chairperson of the District Development Council, Dr. Shamshad Shan, in presence of the President Municipal Council, Ramban, Sunita Sumberia, presided over the function.  
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC Chairperson thanked the District Administration, Social Welfare Department, and the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India for organizing the camp to benefit the needy people. The same camps shall be held in Gool, Banihal, and Ukhral also covering a total of 183 beneficiaries, she added.
Meanwhile, the DC informed that the main objective of the government’s ADIP Scheme, in operation since 1981, was to provide people with assistive aid and appliances that can help in their socio-economic development. The DC directed the DSWO to conduct a fresh survey to cover all other needy people under the scheme.
Earlier, District Social Welfare Officer, Rahul Gupta, informed that District Administration, in collaboration with ALIMCO, a public sector enterprise functioning under the control of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, distributed 157 aids and appliances among 50 beneficiaries in Ramban which included Wheelchairs Adult and Small, CP Chair, Hearing Aid, Walking Sticks.
Principal Higher Secondary School, Ramban, Kawal Sharma, and other concerned officers attended the programme.
