Anantnag, Dec 14: 105 snow clearance machines and 15 control rooms are on standby for Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian – the four south Kashmir districts this winter for effective snow clearance, officials said.
An official from the Mechanical and Hospital Division, Anantnag, overseeing the four south Kashmir districts, said that the snow clearance machines and snow cutters are already in place.
Javaid Ahmad Tantray, Executive Engineer of the Mechanical and Hospital Division, Anantnag, told Rising Kashmir that 105 snow clearance machines have been readied to clear roads promptly upon snow accumulation. Besides, 15 control rooms have been established across the four south Kashmir districts.
“We have a total of 15 control rooms set up: 7 in Anantnag district, 3 in Kulgam district, 2 in Shopian district, and 3 in Pulwama district,” he said.
He said, we have control rooms located in Anantnag at Lever Pahalgam; Pahalgam proper town; Shangus; Kokernag; Dooru; Kapran; and headquarters Khanabal. In Kulgam, they’re situated in Chawalgam Kulgam, Bathipora Damhal Hanjipora, and Kund. For Shopian, we have them in Shirmal and Keller Shopian. As for Pulwama, they’re at Proper Pulwama town, Tral, and Abhama, Sangerwani.
“Two each of Unimog (423) and Liugong machines were included this year, adding to the machinery available for efficient snow clearance. These machines are foreign-made,” he said.
Tantray said, “we request people to keep construction materials away from roads and avoid parking vehicles on them, as it can hinder snow clearance.”
“We have prominently displayed our control room contact numbers, and individuals experiencing snow-related issues in hard zone areas can directly reach out to us,” he added.
