13 drug peddlers arrested, narcotics worth lakhs seized: B’la Police

Baramulla, Jan 31: Police in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday said they arrested 13 drug peddlers and registered 10 cases against them in January.
A police official said that 13 drug peddlers were arrested and narcotic substances worth Rs 20 lakh were seized in January in the district.
The drugs, the official said, include 117 grams of heroin, 25 grams of brown sugar, 664 grams of charas, 3 kg of poppy straw and 23 kg and 700 gm of charas powder.
The value of pure contraband in the black market for heroin is Rs 11,46,600; Rs 2,50,000 for brown sugar, Rs 2,58,960 for charas, Rs 15,000 for poppy straw and Rs 3,55,000 for charas powder.
The total value in the black market for the seized contraband is approximately Rs 20 lakh and 25 thousand rupees, the official said.
While sharing the summary of the cases registered in January, the official said 5 cases were registered in Pattan, 1 in Kreeri, 2 in Uri and 2 in Sheeri.
