Srinagar, June 14: 10Bn of Sashstra Seema Bal Srinagar on Wednesday organized a voluntary blood donation camp at Unit Hospital of 10Bn SSB, Srinagar in collaboration with Doctors and Medical staff of Government Medical Collage, Srinagar (S.M.H.S.) on the occasion of “World Blood Donor Day” 2023.
During the Blood donation camp, approx. 200 units of blood were donated by the SSB personnels. The Chief guest of the programme was Athar Amir Khan (IAS), Commissioner of SMC, H.B.K.Singh, DIG, SHQ SSB (Spl-Ops) Srinagar, Rohitashwa, Commandant, 10Bn SSB, Dr. Gaurav Mishra, Commandant (Medical) 13Bn SSB, Sh. R.S. Rawat, Second-In-Command, Dr. Firdosh Jamil, Dy. Comdt. (Medical), of 10Bn SSB, Srinagar, Dr. M.A. Malla Dy. Comdt. (Medical), 2nd BN SSB and Dr. Urfata, Medical Officer, SMHS Hospital Srinagar, were present to grace the Blood donation Camp.
On the occasion, Athar Amir Khan (IAS), Commissioner of SMC, Srinagar addressed to the SSB Personnel and informed them about precautions to be taken before donating blood and its importance in saving a life. He said “Someone lives when someone donates. Sympathy alone cannot save people in chronic conditions, but blood can. He further appealed all the Jawans and officers of battalion to come forward and donate blood on world blood donation day and contribute in making the blood donation “World Blood Donor Day” successful.
The Blood donation camp witnessed enthusiastic participation of SSB personnels. The 200 SSB personnel voluntarily donated blood in the camp. The event celebrated theme for ‘World Blood Donor Day’ 2023 which is donating blood is an act of solidarity”. This theme highlights the importance of donating blood and how it can save valuable lives. This camp was organized as security force-civilian aid to build up blood resources in the state.
