10 gamblers arrested in South Kashmir: Police

Acting tough against social crimes, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday arrested 10 gamblers and seized stake money of Rs 3,96,200 in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

 A Police spokesperson said, “On 05/03/23 Police Station Pulwama received specific information through reliable sources about gambling activities at public place in Chewa Kharud. Upon this a police party from PS Pulwama raided the specific site and arrested 10 gamblers on the spot namely 1) Mohd Ashraf Bhat S/o Ab Rashid Bhat R/o Prichoo Pulwama 2) Gulzar Ahmad Bhat S/o Mohd Yousuf Bhat R/o Bagi Mehtab Srinagar 3) Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat S/o Ab Rehman Bhat R/o Chanapora 4) Mushtaq Ahmad Wani S/o Fatah Mohammad Wani R/o Monghama Pulwama 5) Feroz Ahmad Malik S/o Ab. Aziz Malik R/o Chadoora 6)Ashiq Ahmad Sofi S/o Gh. Mohd. Sofi R/o Rainawari Srinagar 7) Mehraj Ahmad Malla S/o Khazir Mohammad Malla R/o Sumbal 8) Anwar ul Haq S/o Akbar ud Din R/o Tangpora Srinagar 9) Tariq Ahmad Sheikh S/o Sonaullah Sheikh R/o Shalpora Aloch Bagh 10) Younis Ahmad Zarger S/o Nazir Ahmad Zarger R/o 90 feet Soura and also seized stake money of Rs/-3,96,200 from their possession.”

 

 

“Accordingly, Case FIR No 45/2023 U/S 13 Gambling Act has been registered in Police Station Pulwama and further investigation has been set in motion”, he said.
