As Jammu and Kashmir went under "Janta Curfew" like other parts of the country due outbreak of coronavirus all over the world, former cabinet minister Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali Monday appealed Jammu Kashmir government to provide free ration and financial packages to the PHH (BPL) and dailywager people of Jammu Kashmir in view of lockdown.
In Jammu Kashmir complete lockdown started from 22 March in wake of the coronavirus threat.
He said due to the lockdown dailywagers and and other poor people could suffer the most because their living depends upon their daily income and government must provide free ration and financial packages.
Zulfkar said it was premature to say how long this lockdown woulf continue and what would be the impact of COVID-19.
"We must follow the best practices of other states like Delhi where the government has enhanced the ration 50% and free of cost besides doubling the old age widow and disable pension," he said. "More so the government must comply with previous government order of 3 months advance ration to the people."
