Youth Services and Sports organizes thrilling annual cycle race in Kulgam

Kulgam, July 27: In a bid to promote a culture of sports and healthy competition among the youth, the Youth Services and Sports Kulgam on Thursday organised annual cycle race in south Kashmir's Kulgam district.
The students belonging to below 19 years of age group from various schools in the district participated in this thrilling spectacle.
An official said, the vibrant atmosphere of the event was graced by the presence of officers, including ADC Kulgam, Vaqir Giri who flagged off the race along with District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO), Kulgam, Mushtaq Ahmed Pampori.
He said, the presence of officers in such events added to the enthusiasm of the participants and showcased the government's commitment to promoting sports among the youth.
“The race saw an astounding participation of 10 boys and girls each from 17 government higher secondary schools, who put their best foot forward with sheer determination and excitement. Students from both government and private schools showcased their athletic prowess and competitive spirit, making it a truly inclusive event,” he said.
He said, the race commenced at Laroo Bypass, where the participants eagerly awaited the signal to begin their enthralling journey.
“The cycle race concluded at the Sports Stadium, Kulgam, the winners, who demonstrated exceptional talent and stamina, were recognized and awarded medals by ADC Kulgam, as a token of appreciation for their outstanding performances,” he said.
Speaking about the significance of such initiatives, ADC Kulgam, Vikar Giri, expressed his delight and emphasized the importance of promoting sports at the grassroots level.
“Sporting events like these provide our young talents with a platform to showcase their skills and abilities. It also instills values like discipline, perseverance, and teamwork, which are essential for their holistic development,” ADC said.
The Zonal Physical Education Officers, including Abdul Majid Rathar; Khursheed Ahmed Dar, Abdul Hameed Shan, and Nisar Ahmed Wani, were also present at the event, offering their support and encouragement to the young athletes.
