Women have always been at the forefront of innovation and creativity and in modern times it gives them the opportunity to venture into a variety of business sectors.

The changing dynamics in the world has led to increased participation of women in various business domains. Women entrepreneurs have broken the glass ceiling and are being noticed due to their sheer hard work and creativity.

Rising Kashmir spoke to some women entrepreneurs, who all have one thing in common, i.e., the area of business line they chose. These women are involved in the business of packaging gift items, hampers and much more making special occasions beautiful for their clients.

These women believe that any kind of business involves self-belief, courage, hope and determination.

Syed Naireen Zein (25),

a young budding entrepreneur from Baramulla has done her Bachelors in Civil Engineering and is currently pursuing Masters in Transportation Engineering.

Naireen started her business of decorating and packaging items in Ramadhan this year by the name “Sheen Wraps N Ribbons' '. She belongs to a place where this kind of service was not available.

“We literally had to go to other places to avail these services,” said Naireen.

She said, “I also had to face the same problem as it was not possible to go to far-off places frequently and the idea of starting such service struck my mind.”

“I thought why not start such a service in my hometown so that it will be easy for the people of North Kashmir,” she said.

Naireen initially started providing the service in her hometown but now within only two months of her business she caters to the Kashmir division.

“I always wanted to start some fruitful business but I never had any idea about what to start and how to start,” she said.

She said she was already planning to start the packaging business but a marriage function at her home gave her impetus.

“We had a small function at our home and I was asked to make some chocolate baskets and platters. My parents, relatives and everyone around loved it so much that they encouraged me to be involved in this kind of business,” said Naireen.

Though Naireen started this business in Ramadhan she was not expecting many orders but the response has been overwhelming.

“Because of Ramadhan and also the pandemic I was not sure whether this business will run smoothly or not but people love my work and they are giving me a chance to serve them,” said Naireen.

She said this wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my parents.

Naireen is involved in trousseau packing, gift packing, customized chocolate baskets, bouquets, gift hampers, Nikah plates, Mehandi platters and much more.

She has reasonable rates that start from Rs 249 onwards.

“I always keep myself at the customer's place, since a customer always wants the best with reasonable price,” she said.

Isra Irshad Shah (26) ,

from Buchpora Srinagar has done her B-tech in Food and Technology and is currently working with a private company.

She started “Wrap A Wrap” in May last year.

“During one of my cousin’s marriages, I was tasked with wrapping gifts for the guests that made me realize this is something I could do as a service provider,” said Isra.

Isra’s parents have always been by her side and have supported her entrepreneurial initiative with much enthusiasm.

She said, “In beginning orders were slow to come by, but I worked hard and remained consistent and luckily I was able to attract people toward my business.”

Isra is involved in Trousseau packing, customized baskets packing, gift packaging, wedding favors and gift hampers.

“The charges depend on the type, size and customization of the product,” said Isra.

Isra ships her packaged decorative items all over the country and has so far successfully delivered a lot of projects for marriages, birthdays and other functions.

"I have been decorating items for the last one year now and I have tried my best to never disappoint my client,” said Isra.

Hina Khan (30),

from Buchpora Srinagar, has done her M.Sc .

She started the venture “Wrap Art by Hennah” in 2019.

Hina loved to decorate things at home since she was a kid. She had personal interest in crafting and beautifying things.

“I used to participate in different exhibitions but unfortunately due to this pandemic there are no exhibitions taking place these days,” she said.

Hina said she started this business after getting immense support from her family.

“I started it especially due to my husband,” said Hina.

She said her business suffered heavy losses due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Hina deals with wedding wrapping for brides and other customized wrapping for different occasions.

“We wrap things according to the customer's choice and budget and also there are different rates for different types of packing,” said Hina.

She said, “We not only wrap things but also provide all sorts of dry-fruits and chocolates to our customers at wholesale prices. We also have our offline outlet in Zaina Kadal by the name Dry-fruit Studio.”

For these women entrepreneurs' business is all about making client’s special day even more special by doing crafts and making things look classier, beautiful and out of the box as they believe the presentation matters the most and that’s what they provide to the people.

In these times, where equal opportunity for women is still a dream for many, these confident women are ready to take charge and provide their exquisite services to their clients.
