Cold weather during winters can aggravate many diseases including chronic lung diseases like Asthma, COPD, IPF and Acute lung infections like pneumonia.
Skin issues like chill blains and dry skin are common. Children and elderly are worst sufferers. Child and elderly should avoid going outside during morning and evening.
Everyone should keep them warm by wearing winter outfits and safe heating arrangements.
Carbon monoxide poisoning is seen during winters which can mortalities. Poor ventilation and continuous use of gas heaters without safety measures can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning.
Kangri burns are common during winters. Children should be kept away from heating apparatuses. Communicable diseases commonly spread between family members.
COVID-19 is another problem. Timely consultation with doctors is always beneficial in high risk group. Flu shot and vaccine is always helpful.
People with high blood pressure, diabetes, high lipids should take medicines regularly and avoid excess eating.
Smoking should be avoided. Indoor exercises can be done. Walk during daytime is feasible. Vitamin D and C supplements after proper consultantion with doctors is advisable. Fruits, warm water and kehwa like drinks are beneficial. Salt restriction is important in hypertensive patients.
