Bandipora, July 29: Apni Party (AP) vice-president and former MLA Bandipora Usman Majid Friday said that he will contest upcoming assembly polls from Bandipora Constituency.
Talking to media, Majid said that he will serve the people of Bandipora till last breathe and will contest upcoming polls from Bandipora constituency only.
"I am not going to leave my constituency, which has given me everything. Thanks to the support I have received from the people of Bandipora, along with the confidence the voters have reposed in me, I have been elected to the assembly from Bandipora twice," he added.
Describing the current political climate in Jammu and Kashmir “very conducive” for Apni Party to come to power, Majid said that special efforts are being made to woo people from all sections of the society, to ensure the party's victory in the coming Assembly.
Majid told the party workers to get connected with the people at grass roots and do their best to resolve their issues they are facing in absence of the democratically elected representatives.
"Apni Party is getting stronger day by day as more and more people are joining us. Apni Party do not believe in hollow and emotional sloganeering as we truly represent aspirations of people", he added.
Notably the native village of Usman Majid was added to the Sonawari assembly segment after the Delimitation Commission drafted its final report on May 05.
Earlier there were rumours that Usman will not contest polls from Bandipora constituency following delimitation changes, however, a former legislator clarified that he will contest polls from Bandipora constituency even as his native village doesn't fall in the same constituency.
