The Coronavirus isn’t the only thing that is novel – it has led to many new and uncomfortable circumstances for the global population. This time of massive upheaval has been extremely terrifying for everyone, and adjustment to a new lifestyle has not been easy.

Therefore, it is safe to say that almost every individual has experienced some form of fear, stress or anxiety, ever since the world changed. We can also assume that everyone has bad days and days where they feel completely incapable. However, days come and go. Some days are better than others, and that’s okay. On those days that don’t go so well, one can often be hard on themselves.

The most important thing to remember – you’re living through a pandemic. You’re surviving through a pandemic. You’re never alone when experiencing such feelings, which is why it’s also essential to keep going and pick yourself up after a bad day. To help with this, mentioned below are some tips that can help you feel better:

1.   Keep going

Don’t let all these changes that come with a pandemic, throw you off track – remember that the most gruelling circumstances are temporary. This too will pass, so stay the course, gain clarity and channel your energy into a more positive direction. Spend time indulging in the good - enjoy your time off, engage in new hobbies, learn something new!

2.   Trust yourself

Believe in yourself no matter what. Not only will this raise your confidence, but it will help you grow from experience, to be able to bounce back quicker each time. Believe that the answers to every question lie within you, and you are capable of figuring them out; they just need a bit of time and patience.

3.   Be friends with life

Life has both highs and lows; it is not out to get you! It does not punish you. Gain perspective, focus on other opportunities and busy yourself. Now is the time to love life in all its forms, and accept the fact that it is your perspective that is holding you back.

4.   Watch your thoughts

It’s a given that your thinking will never be 100% positive all the time. But, it’s important to learn to dismiss those nagging and negative thoughts. Even if it’s by staying open to other ideas, do it. Start becoming conscious of your negativity, and reframe your thoughts into a more positive outlook.

5.   Summon the strength you have inside

Be aware of your strengths, and further use them for putting out good in the world. Your strength and capabilities will help you achieve anything, you just have to believe in them. Although there may not have been worse times, remember that you have survived all the bad times before.

6.   Learn to love yourself

Your life is not a game plan that is already laid out for you. If you don’t like who you are right now, remember, only you have the power to change it. This means creating a strategy, gathering some new tools, and moulding yourself into the person you want to be. Stop waiting for the day to come, or a sign to tell you it’s time – the time is now to love yourself. If you lack something, then rebuild yourself into someone you will love.

7.   Don’t want too much

Motivation is very often fuelled by desire, but there is a limit to what you can desire without it hindering who you are as a person. Do not spread your carpet beyond your steps, stick to your means, and don’t lose your integrity. One can often lose yourself amongst their wants and desires.

8.   Don’t let words get to you

Critique is a human quality, and it is important to not let overly-critical comments get to you. People will always argue and fight, but if the critique is not constructive or relevant, then ignore it. Do not let it bring you down, and learn to respond instead of react.

9.   Accept disappointment

Even the most successful people have dealt with, and continue to deal with disappointment. However, they use it as motivation to advance themselves, rather than let it hold them back. A trick that is imperative here, is to process your emotions, and then move onto your action.

10.                     Face your fears

It is known that overcoming your fears makes you infinitely stronger, and being a little scared is also good for you. Therefore, it helps to understand and acknowledge your fears. Only then can you eliminate them from your life.
