Srinagar, Apr 11: Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference Senior Vice-President Abdul Gani Vakil, Tuesday expressed deep concern over the lack of basic facilities in Sopore.
Vakil urged the government to address the grievances of the residents who held a protest demonstration over the lack of basic facilities in their locality.
He said that the shortage of drinking water, poor drainage facilities, and dilapidated roads in the area is a matter of grave concern.
The former legislator complained that the residents have been victimized and ignored by successive governments while their leaders only visit them during election time.  He said the lack of basic facilities is a fundamental issue that needs to be addressed by the concerned authorities.
The recent protest demonstration held by the residents highlights their legitimate grievances and demands that the government must address”, he added.
Vakil urged the LG administration and concerned authorities to take prompt action and address the genuine demands of the residents of Sopore town.
“If there was a people’s government, the concerns of the people would have been heard, and their issues would have been addressed promptly. The government must listen to the concerns of its citizens and ensure that basic facilities are provided to them and take necessary measures to improve their living conditions”, he concluded.
