The subject of trust is very important in Islam. It is also very important in our day today lives. If people trust one another and if they act accordingly, they will live in peace and harmony. If we trust one another, but do not act rightfully, we will create a state of anarchy, confusion and disturbance in the society. Allah (SWT) instructed us to put our trust in Him. He demanded that we should fulfill our trust and make sure that we deal with trust. It is understood that Allah (SWT) Himself is the One Who fulfills His promise. He commanded us to fulfill our own promise as well. It should be understood that the concept of trust has been given to us since the time Allah (SWT) created mankind.
Allah (SWT) offered the trust to the universe and every creation refused to assume the responsibility. The only creature who assumed such a responsibility is man. In this respect, Allah (SWT) informs us in the holy Quran about His offer of the trust to the universe. Allah (SWT) has instructed us to fulfill our pledges, our promises and our commitments. And any time we make a promise, we have to fulfill it in order to be considered among the believers. Indeed some of the characteristics of believers are that they fulfill their covenants, their promises and their agreements. We have been informed by our beloved Prophet (SAW) that whoever does not fulfill his promise does not have faith and does not have religion.
We are also informed by our beloved Prophet (SAW) that whoever does not fulfill his commitments, pledges and promises is considered to be a hypocrite. We are further advised by our Prophet (SAW) that if someone talks to another person and he does not want his name to be released, it is considered to be an Amanah. Whoever does not keep the secret he is a betrayer. Thus it is our duty to observe and to fulfill our promises. If we promise someone we should try to carry out that promise perfectly and on time so as to be considered among the believers. We should make a habit of not to break agreements, promises, pledges and contracts. Rather we should try to fulfill them at an earliest and in the perfect way. By doing so, we will earn Allah’s (SWT) blessings, His mercy and His forgiveness.
