Training programs for PashuSakhiscommence, two others conclude at SKUAST-K

Srinagar, Aug 12: Two Training Programme for Batch 9&10 of PashuSakhis under A-Help startedand two trainings for Batch 7&8 concluded at Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-K. The programme is sponsored by National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and organized by Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-K.
The programme was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai and Director Extension, SKUAST-K Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi; NDDB Training Coordinator, Dr.Rumin Pal Singh Bali; Scientists of Directorate of Extension, Master Trainers, and participants of the training programme attended the inaugural and valedictory session. In the training programme 200 rural girls from all districts of Kashmir Valley are participating.
Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganie in his address appreciated Director Extension, Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi for organizing series of training programmes and day to day activities at Directorate of Extension. He assured every possible support from the University to participants of PashuSakhis for their self-sustainability and further said that new technologies will be given to participants and the training will be beneficial for all trainees of Pashu Sakhis and opined that all trainings of Directorate of Extension are of utmost importance and are need and demand driven for boosting the morale of youth and getting training for generating the income and livelihood for unemployed rural youth. He further said that that this training programme will be beneficial for dissemination of Veterinary Services to the grass root level under field conditions and will promote the linkage of lab to field. He appreciated the sacrifices made by some lady A-Help under trainings with kids in their lap having excellence in training programme. He appreciated the toppers who scored more than 96% marks. Such women can make nation proud, said the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor.
Director Extension, SKUAST-K Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi briefed about the importance of training programme. Speaking on the occasion he advised the trainees to empower themselves through specific skills and join Self-Help Groups to serve the society at large and to earn the living in a dignified manner. He further emphasized on the need of using scientific practices in improving livelihood of farmers. He said that the basic objective for the training is to provide a platform to the trainees to expand their knowledge and skill related to livestock sector.
Dr. Balbir Singh CEO, Coordinator briefed the salient features of the training programme. He said that the main purpose of the programme is to train the educated females of rural areas of J&K. They will learn about the vaccination, tagging and providing first-aid to the animals of their areas. The theme is the development of women folk in J&K and thanked SKUAST-K authorities for organizing such programmes.
During the programme, certificates were distributed among the Batch 7&8 of Pashu Sakhis. The inaugural and valedictory session concluded with a vote of thanks to the chair and participants.
