Training programmes of Pashu Sakhis started at Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-K

Srinagar, July 27: Two Training Programme for Batch 7&8 of Pashu Sakhis under A-Help and two trainings for Batch 5&6 concluded at Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-K on Thursday.
The programme is sponsored by National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and organized by Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-K.
The programme was inaugurated by Chairman Director Extension, SKUAST-K Prof. Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi and Comptroller SKUAST-K, Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Wani. NDDB Training Coordinator, Dr. Pankaj Sheraria; NDDB Training Coordinator,Rahul Nair; Scientists of Directorate of Extension, Master Trainees, and participants of the training programme attended the inaugural and valedictory session. In the training programme 200 rural girls from all districts of Kashmir Valley are participating.

Dil Mohammad Makhdoomi briefed about the importance of training programme. Speaking on the occasion he advised the trainees to empower themselves through specific skills and join Self-Help Groups to serve the society at large and to earn the living in a dignified manner. He further emphasized on the need of using scientific practices in improving livelihood of farmers. He assured every possible support from University to the participants of Pashu Sakhis for their self-sustainability and further said that new technologies will be given to participants.
Comptroller, SKUAST-K, Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Wani opined that this training programme will be beneficial for dissemination of Veterinary Services to the grass root level under field conditions and will promote the linkage of lab to field. He further said that 80-90% of economy depends upon animal husbandry and agriculture and women being the force behind rearing the animals.
He said that the basic objective for the training is to provide a platform to the trainees to expand their knowledge and skill related to livestock sector.
Rahul Nair, NDDB Coordinator earlier briefed the salient features of the training programme. He said that the main purpose of the programme is to train the educated females of rural areas of J&K. They will learn about the vaccination, tagging and providing first-aid to the animals of their areas. The theme is the development of women folk in J&K and thanked SKUAST-K authorities for organizing such programmes.
Dr. Pankaj Sheraria, NDDB Coordinator in his address emphasized that the training is of utmost importance and are need and demand driven for boosting the morale of youth and getting training for generating the income and livelihood for unemployed rural youth.
During the programme, certificates were distributed among the Batch 5&6 of Pashu Sakhis. The inaugural and valedictory session concluded with a vote of thanks to the chair and participants.
