Srinagar, June 15: Traffic Police, City on Wednesday seized over 100 vehicles who were plying without having HSRP number plates.
The seizure drive was conducted in the city under the supervision of SSP Traffic, Muzaffar Ahmad Shah. The traffic cops were seen stopping vehicles and asking drivers for installation of HSRP.
The HSRP is a high security number plate, an aluminium made number plate which is fixed on to a vehicle by a minimum of two non-reusable snap-on locks and has various identifiable features. On the top left corner of an HSRP, there is a blue-colored chromium-based hologram of the size 20mmx20x22mm of Ashoka Chakra.
SSP Traffic, Muzaffar Ahmad Shah told Rising Kashmir that such drives are an ongoing process and advisory regarding HSRP has already been issued earlier.
He said the order has already been issued by the Transport Commissioner wherein it was urged upon drivers to install the number plates by 15 June.
In the issued order it was already mentioned it is mandatory to fix on your vehicle and if they don’t then their vehicles will be suspended or their registration will be cancelled.
We have requested people to attest the number plate many people have installed but many are roaming without HSRP.
“Since morning we have seized 100 vehicles on specific spots of Srinagar from Rajbagh, Dalgate, Soura, MA Road etc”, he said.
“The seizures include four wheelers, three wheelers, two wheelers”, the SSP said and added, “The drive shall continue in future till all vehicles will not turn up with HSRP.”
