Tour for orchardists flagged off at Ganderbal

The tour has been organized under the Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) scheme.

Ganderbal, Jan 02: According to a press statement, a group of 40 orchardists from Kangan and Ganderbal zones of the district was today flagged off for one-day exposure cum training tour by Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba.

The tour has been organized under the Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) scheme.

The statement said that the orchardists will visit SKUAST-K where they will be imparted training regarding basics of nursery management and standard propagation techniques, importance of high density plantation, protected cultivation, organic farming and other latest Horticulture development techniques to alleviate poverty and double farmers income.

While interacting with the orchardists, the ADC highlighted the importance of Horticulture and impressed upon the orchardists to interact with the scientists, experts and extension functionaries to enhance their technical skills in the field of integrated horticulture farming and to adopt the advanced technology for cultivation of latest, hybrid and high yielding fruit trees.

Chief Horticulture Officer, Ganderbal and other officials of the department were present on the occasion.
