Srinagar, Sept 25: As a part of nationwide Shramdaan “Ek Din Ek Gantha Ek Saath” with a pledge call to citizens for joining hands for the Nations cleanliness under Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 campaign, Krishi Vigyan Kendra -Srinagar, SKUAST-K organised the mega Swachhata Service drive (National Shramdaan) today on 25th Sept 2025 in collaboration with the higher Secondary education Institutions in vicinity of the Kendra at Aspire World School (AWS), Humhama Srinagar.
According to a statement issued here, speaking on the occasion of today’s event on National Shramdaan, Head KVK Srinagar Prof Shamim A Simnani underlined the need for fostering community involvement, collective responsibility, encouraging the participating students to contribute one hour of voluntary Swachhata service to eradicate the soil as well as human health hazards by strategic waste management and discourage the use of nondegradable as well as single use plastics.
The ultimate aim of the event was to create awareness and encourage action on Climate change, Deforestation, Desertification, pollution, single use plastic. Shramdaan programme comprised of awareness cum workshop and solemn pledge ceremony to save mother earth and the water bodies through strategic waste management practices the make Planet Earth worth living.
On the occasion speakers Dr. I.A Mir, Dr. Asima Rafiq deliberated on the various aspects of Swachhata Hi Seva to make the planet worth living for future generations. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Haseeb-ur-Rehman.
