STMC organizes District Climbing Championships in Srinagar

Srinagar, Mar 24: The Sunridges Trekking and Mountaineering Club (STMC) Ratnipora Pulwama on Thursday organized District sport climbing championships for district Pulwama and district Budgam at TRC Wall Nowgam Srinagar.
 A total of 50 Climbers including boys and girls from different clubs, schools, and institutions took part in the championship from district Pulwama and district Budgam and showcased their climbing skills.
 Divisional Sports Officer (C) J&K Sports Council Mtr. Nusrat Ghazala was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
 Dr. Muzamil Andrabi Principal Scientist Indian Integrative Medicine RRL Srinagar, Musbhat , Legal Advisor J&K Sports Council and Jameel Mustafa Senior Mountaineer were other dignified guests present on the occasion.
 In the championships for Pulwama district in the boys’ junior category, Arif Fayaz secured the first position while Faizan Mehraj stood second and Yasir Ahmad attained the third position respectively.
 Similarly, in the Sub-junior boys’ category Abdul Basit secured first, Ali Andrabi second and Mir Sibgatullah secured the third position respectively. However, in the girls’ junior category Munazah Maqbool secured first, Ayra second and Mursala Jan secured third position respectively.
 In Sub junior girls’ Hafsa secured first, Hadia Nabi second, and Arbena Fayaz secured third position. In the overall medal Tally ValenTeens School, Ratnipora Pulwama bagged the highest number of medals.
 Similarly, for Budgam district in the boys’ junior category Marrof Nazir secured first, Furkan Feroz second and Umer Manzoor secured the third position respectively. In Sub-junior boys Huzair Bin Ashaq secured first, Saliq Shah second and Owais Manzoor secured the third spot respectively.
 In the Girls' junior category Uzma Altaf secured first, Rutba Binte Ashraf attained second and Ulfat Farooq secured third positions respectively.
 In the Sub-junior girls’ category Arbeena Nazir secured first, Rabia Raheem second and Milad Qayoom secured the third position respectively.
 On the prize distribution function, Divisional Sports Officer (C) J&K Sports Council Nusrat Ghazala was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
 Speaking on the occasion, Ghazala hailed the organizing committee of the club for their efforts in promoting adventure sports among the rural youth.
 On the occasion medals and trophies were presented to the position holders, guests and officials, participants were also awarded certificates on the concluding ceremony. 
 In conclusion, Organizing Secretary Syed Abdul Mohsin expressed gratitude to J&K Tourism Department for providing them with the Climbing Wall and the necessary equipment for organizing the event successfully.
The STMC is one of the oldest registered clubs of Kashmir valley, and is affiliated with the Mountaineering Association of Jammu and Kashmir. The championship was organized under the aegis of the Mountaineering Association of J&K and was sponsored by J&K Sports Council.
