Srinagar, Aug 3: In a recent development, the traffic police authorities in Srinagar have issued a stern warning to 7,366 vehicle owners with pending e-challans. The authorities have urged these owners to dispose of their challans by August 09, failing which their vehicles will face impoundment.
The warning came after the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of traffic in Srinagar, Muzaffar Ahmad Shah, received a court order dated 28th July 2023 from the Court of Special Mobile Magistrate (Traffic) in Srinagar. The court order listed the 7,366 vehicles with their respective pending e-court challans, instructing the traffic police to inform the owners about the need to settle the dues before the specified date.
To ensure wide circulation of the information, the traffic authorities have issued a public notice, including the list of vehicles along with their pending challans. The notice emphasizes that the vehicle owners, whose challans are still unpaid, must appear before the Court of Special Mobile Magistrate, Traffic Srinagar, on or before 9th August 2023 to clear their dues.
The consequences of failing to adhere to the court's directives are severe. Violators will face strict action under the relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, read with its allied rules. This could lead to the impoundment of their vehicles and even recommendation for the cancellation of vehicle registrations.
The traffic police have emphasized the gravity of the situation and urged all concerned vehicle owners to take immediate action to avoid any inconvenience or potential loss of their vehicles. With the deadline fast approaching, vehicle owners are advised to act promptly and responsibly to settle their pending e-challans and avoid any legal repercussions.
Failure to comply with the court order could have serious implications, making it crucial for all violators to come forward and resolve the matter within the given timeframe.
