Srinagar tops in medal tally

Srinagar, Nov 13: The Three day 22nd J&K Sqay championship concluded on Thursday,  with Srinagar topping in medal tally with 15 Gold, 10 silver and 7 bronze medals here at Indoor complex Polo ground.
The championship started on November 9 and concluded on November 11.
More than 1500 players across Jammu and Kashmir including both boys and girls in all age groups participated in this event and showcased their talent with zeal and enthusiasm in the Sqay, the traditional martial arts of Kashmir.
Swami Dharambandhu was the chief Guest at the closing ceremony.
Swami Dharambandhu praised Kashmiri Martial Art on the occasion and assured players that the sport will be made compulsory in the whole country.
He also assured that he would raise the matter regarding Sqay Art personally with the Prime Minister of India as this indigenous Martial Art is the pride of the whole country.
In the event, District Srinagar topped the overall championship by winning 15 Gold, 10 Silver and 7 Bronze medals whereas District Shopian finished second by bagging 10 gold, 9 silver and 10 bronze medals and Pulwama third with 8 gold, 10 silver and 15 bronze in overall medal tally respectively.
The selected players of the championship will represent J&K in upcoming 22nd Sqay National championship scheduled to be held at Goa.
The championship was organized by J&K Sqay association in collaboration with J&K Sports Council.
