Ganderbal: Srinagar-Leh highway will remain closed for traffic from April 20 ,21 and 22 as traffic dry days, said authorities on Wednesday.
According to an order issued by Traffic Police Rural, Kashmir said in view of pending widening work on the Zojila axis owing to continuous fresh snowfall and avalanches, the traffic will remain closed for traffic from April 20th, 21st and 22nd April 2023 on Zojila axis for all types of vehicles[ LMVs and HMVs].
Moreover, to avoid any type of unpleasant incident, movements of HMVs is stopped till further orders, the order reads
Meanwhile, incessant rain and severe snowfall during the lastcouple of days disrupted regular life in the higher parts of Ganderbal district, which experienced moderate to heavy snowfall overnight and was still falling as of recent reports.
Officials also stated that Zojila Pass received around 6 inches of fresh snowfall, Drass 8 inches, Minamarg 10 inches, and Gagangeer 1 inch.
They said that no vehicular movement will be allowed on both sides of Srinagar-Leh highway as a precautionary measure.
