Special health care ready at 150 locations in J&K: Officials

Highly skilled human resource trained in critical medicine to be deployed for yatra: Principal Secy Health

Srinagar, June 26: The Jammu and Kashmir Health Department has made special health care arrangements at 150 hospitals for this year’s Amarnath Yatra, officials said on Sunday.
 
Health officials informed that health arrangements have been made from Lakhanpur to Banihal and till the site of Amarnath Yatra at both Chandanwadi and Balthal sides.
In Jammu division, at least 70 health facilities/hospitals have been identified where exclusive health care arrangements have been made for the yatris.
 
The official said that additional interventions and provision of mobile medical units have been set up at Chichi Mata, Samba and Tikri, Udhampur.
 
Similarly, in Kashmir division, all arrangements have been finalized for the yatra while health facilities have been upgraded this year which used to be available en route the yatra.
 
A total of 55 medical stations have been established, which include six base hospitals, 11 medical aid centers, 12 emergency aid centres, 26 oxygen booths.
 
Principal Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, said health care infrastructure of high level has been made.
 
“Highly skilled human resources has been trained in critical medicine and high altitude medicine shall be deployed for yatra duties,” he said.
 
In addition 11 on-route facilities have been set up at pilgrim transit sites along the National Highway and 17 other functioning hospitals are on alert. Also two 100 bedded DRDO hospitals have been established at Baltal and Chandanwadi.
 
Officials said telemedicine units are being established at Panjtarni and Baltal by ISRO in collaboration with DHSK and will be functional from 01 July.
 
The doctors and paramedics have been trained in High Altitude Emergency Medicine training before being deployed. At least 600 local staff have been trained in High Altitude Emergency Medicine at the Regional Institute of Health & Family Welfare (RIFW), Dhobiwan.
 
Further, tertiary care facilities like SKIMS Soura, SKIMS Bemina, Government Medical Colleges have been kept on ready mode for handling any referral cases during the Yatra period.
