SMC illuminates city parts, Dal banks from Dalgate to CheshmaShahi in tricolour

Srinagar, Aug 14: In view of the Independence Day celebrations Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Sundayhas illuminated many roads, and bridges in the city, including the banks of Dal lake.
An official from SMC told that marking the celebrations on the eve of India’s 75th Independence Day, they have illuminated the various parts of the city in tricolour, like Jehangir Chowk, MA Road, bridges to the banks of Dal Lake.
“Ahead of 15 August Independence Day and to celebrate the 75 years of country’s Independence we have illuminated various parts of the city from Jehangir Chowk, MA Road, SMC building, Dalgate, ChunthKul, TRC Flyover, banks all around Dal Lake from Dalgate to CheshmaShahi,” said an official.
Mayor Srinagar Junaid Azim Mattu in a tweet also posted an illuminated picture of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Central Office at Karan Nagar.
“Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Central Office at Karan Nagar illuminated on the eve of our 76th Independence Day tomorrow,” Mattu tweeted.
The famous Clock Tower situated at Lal Chowk in the heart of Srinagar city has also been illuminated in Tricolor by Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC).
Earlier on the Sunday, SMC while observing the 14th of August as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day across the country organized the Partition Horrors Remembrance Exhibition at Lal Chowk, Srinagar.
In a tweet on SMC’s official Twitter handle they wrote, “14th August is being observed as Partition Horrors Remembrance Day across the country. At Lal Chowk, Srinagar Partition Horrors Remembrance Exhibition was organized by SMC.”
Sanitation drivers of SMC on Sunday also held Tiranga Rallies near different historic monuments in Srinagar.
