SMC conducts sanitisation drive in all four zones of Srinagar

Srinagar, Aug 29: Continuing its ‘Sunday for Srinagar’ Campaign, the SMC conducted an extensive sanitation drive in all the four Zones: East, West, North, and South on Sunday.
According to the SMC officials, the Commissioner SMC personally supervised the drive along with the Chief Sanitation Officer and zonal sanitation officers.
The cleanliness drive was taken up at Sheikh Colony Baba Mohalla, Kathi Darwaza, Babedem, Dedi Nawbagh in ward 14, Nawa Kadal Bund to cement Bridge in ward 18, Sanat Nagar Housing Colony, Sanat Nagar Byepass Bund up to Barzulla Bund Via khan Mohala. All the filth and waste was cleared up and grass cutting was done at all these places during the drive. Also, Bush cutters were pressed in service at some places.
‘Sunday for Srinagar’ was launched in March this year and the motive of this initiative is to contribute to the city by spending time on Sundays in launching various programs including clean up drives, plantation and public awareness programs, the SMC officials said.
This program was jointly launched by Srinagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Athar Amir and Mayor Junaid Azim Mattoon.
