Jammu, March 21: ‘Smart Traffic Booths’ with multiple facilities are soon going to come up at different locations of Jammu City which have already been identified by the authorities, officials said.
“In the first phase, there would be 25 ‘Smart Traffic Booths’ which will come up in different important locations across Jammu under the Smart City Project,” Assistant Executive Engineer, Jammu Smart City Limited, Gift Prashar told Rising Kashmir, adding, “More such ‘Smart Traffic Booths’ would come up in Jammu as per the requirement sent by the department and availability of funds under Smart City Project”.
The ‘Smart Traffic Booths’ would be pre-fabricated structures. These include 22 traffic booths measuring 8ft by 10ft, while 3 Smart Traffic Booths would be of 6ft by 8ft measurement, Prashar said, adding that there would also be attached toilets with these smart booths.
The ‘Smart Traffic Booths’, which are coming up for the first time in J&K, will have many facilities for the cops working 24×7 on the roads to manage traffic and check traffic violations.
“In these booths, there would be help desk windows for the convenience of people, power connections, alcohol detectors, seating and sleeping arrangement for cops, wireless sets besides other facilities,” an official said.
Apart from this, the pre-fabricated structures have been designed in such a way that the temperature inside the smart booths remains far below the temperature outside during the peak summer season in Jammu.
“The foundation work in all the locations has been completed,” the official said, adding, “The work for the construction of pre-fabricated structures for Smart Traffic Booths has been going on”.
The important aspect of these ‘Smart Traffic Booths’ is that they can be shifted to another place at any time as per requirement.
Once put in place, these ‘Smart Traffic Booths’ will give a new look to Jammu City besides providing a better working place to the cops on the Jammu roads, the official said.
