SKUAST-K launches training prog on scientific pruning of fruit trees

Srinagar, Nov 09: To impart technical and scientific pruning techniques to the youth and students of the university, Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Kashmir Prof Nazir A Ganai on Wednesday kick started awareness cum training programme on “Hands on tools-cum-training on scientific pruning of fruit trees” at Experimental Farm.
In a first-of-its-kind, hands on tools and pruning techniques of fruit trees was launched by Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Kashmir with the aim to inculcate pruning skills for promotion of skill entrepreneurship development generation of self employment besides sustainable production of quality fruits to meet the challenges of global market so as to make horticulture a profitable enterprise, a SKUAST-K statement issued here said.
Prof Ganai stressed upon the participants to develop pruning skills and advised students to routinely visit the field to get involved themselves into various horticultural operation so as to inculcate and acquire the field knowledge to mitigate the bottlenecks and pave way for harnessing production besides improving quality.
